Cathedral Grove is a stand of old growth Douglas Fir trees. The forest is magnificently mossed and has a green tranquility that is amazing to experience. There are some very big, old growth trees, but yet again, one image cannot capture the beauty of the scene. I set up and created a 6 shot panoramic of the forest scene. The large specimen in the foreground was incredibly tall and anchored the whole scene. It was a misty day and the sun was not breaking through the mist yet, but the forest seemed to glow with an ethereal beauty. This is one of my favourite places on Vancouver Island.
