This is a collection of Fine Art Landscape Photographs that I have created since 2007. This curated collection is a selection of my most dramatic work and some of the unique places i have been fortunate to travel to.

  • Neko Harbour is a deeply beautiful cove on the Antarctic Peninsula. The area is hemmed in by tall mountains and to the right in this image is a massive glacier. Once again, the scale of things in Antarctica is beyond compare. The small vessel you see in the bay is our ship, dwarfed by the surrounding mountains and headlands. We hiked up the ridge to the point where I made this image. I stood there for a long time after I had photographed, just soaking in one of the most magnificent landscapes I had ever seen.

  • Mount Edith Cavell is a mountain located in the Athabasca River and Astoria River valleys of Jasper National Park, Canada, and the most prominent peak entirely within Alberta. At 2007 metres, the mountain has the most prominent peak in Alberta. On this evening, I waited until long after sunset to being capturing some starscapes. By 11:30 pm, the scene was just right and resulted in this image. Standing there, in the absolute silence and presence of this magnificent mountain was almost like meditating. It is an evening that I will never forget, one of the most memorable of my whole photographic career.

  • This scene was surreal to witness. The rolling, boiling clouds swept in being pushed by high winds and the lake was blue and clear. Standing on the edge of Kluane Lake, I could see the clouds moving and feel the energy in the air.
    Storm brewing
  • Calm Waters
  • Almost midnight - Limited Edition Print
  • Blue silver and sky
  • Gabriola Glow
  • The Point Atkinson Lighthouse is situated in the Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver. Built in 1875, it is an impressive and nostalgic site in the area. With GPS tracking and coordinates, lighthouses are becoming less and less needed, however this one still serves as a beacon to vessels in English Bay. Point Atkinson is on the Peninsula and behind it is 75 hectares of some first growth Fir, Cedar and Hemlock. This is a special place in Vancouver.

  • On this evening, the tide was running high and rushing over the rocks beneath my feet. I was very careful not to get pulled into the moving water as the rocky channels were quite deep. The surge was powerful and the sun was just beginning to fade when I made this image. The most compelling part of this image is the movement it conveys, you can feel the water moving and yet, the serenity of the warm clouds makes you feel calm. This is what I love about being a photographer, the opportunity to see and feel these things in the midst of the beauty of nature.
Sea Cauldron - Brenton on Sea, South..rica
  • Morning glow
  • This lone rock stood out like a sentinel. It was sharp, craggy and prominent. On this evening, the tide was surging onto the beach and then pulling back just as fast. I timed the shot so that the white water streaked as it pulled back to the ocean. The warm sunset turned from orange to pink and made this image that much more rewarding.

  • Once again, the rough and ready coastline of the Western Cape captured my imagination. A storm had just rumbled through the area and was lifting. The low clouds were moving quickly across the water, the sea was churned up and the sun was just peeking out after being obscured during the downpour. The light became a furious red and orange, I managed to get 4 images during this time, this was my favourite.
    Dante's Inferno - Knysna - South Africa
  • The Atacama Desert in Northern Chile is a sublime place. It is the driest place on earth and there is literally little to no life there. Even birds avoid flying over it as they cannot come down for water, so they avoid it. This scene was taken after hiking up one of the huge dunes in the moon valley. The road you see in the foreground (left) takes travellers deep into the desert. The scene is unlike any other I have seen before.
    Valley of the Moon
  • Soft Sky
  • The sun was setting in the Yukon at approximately 3pm, it was mid winter. The clouds that were grey and dull for the whole day, were suddenly revived and on fire for the last few minutes of the day and the sun dropped below the horizon.
    Afterglow
  • Buffalo Bay or "Buffs" as it is known by locals is a rugged beautiful beach in the Garden Route of the Cape coastline. On this evening, the tide was far out. This gave the effect of the sea being far away and the beach being deep. The sun began to set and put on a fantastic light display in the clouds, an wonderful time to be out in nature and this image was made.
Sea Forever - Buffalo Bay, South Africa
  • In the glow
  • The Aspens in Colorado are mesmerising. This grove was high in the mountains and had already lost some leaves. It was a remote spot, few hours walk from anywhere. The silence and the beauty of this place can be acutely felt in this image.
    Aspen Grove
  • High in the mountains above a small town in Colorado is this area. It is an old disused quarry. There are remnants of the industry that was here, but mostly the trees and shrubs have overtaken the place and nature reigns again.

  • As the sun was setting, the glow set the forest alight...with light
    Last light in the woods
  • The growing season in the Yukon is short. The flora springs up and grows as quickly as it can for a mew months before the icy winter plunges everything back into a state of dormancy. This image was take toward the end of summer and there was still lots of green around. Upon returning, just one month later, everything had disappeared.
    Yukon Poplars
  • Cathedral Grove is a stand of old growth Douglas Fir trees. The forest is magnificently mossed and has a green tranquility that is amazing to experience. There are some very big, old growth trees, but yet again, one image cannot capture the beauty of the scene. I set up and created a 6 shot panoramic of the forest scene. The large specimen in the foreground was incredibly tall and anchored the whole scene. It was a misty day and the sun was not breaking through the mist yet, but the forest seemed to glow with an ethereal beauty. This is one of my favourite places on Vancouver Island.
    Cathedral Grove - Natures Cathedral
  • The soft light was fading over the water of Whytecliff Park on the North Shore of Vancouver. As it did, the last magenta rays coloured up the clouds for just a few seconds...and this is what it looked like
    Tranquility
  • This image is a colour image. Most of the scene looks black and white as there is almost no colour to break the scene, except a small smidgen of colour on the trunk of the trees.
    Verticals
  • This small group of trees seemed to huddle together as if they were ready for a group photograph. Once again, the image is a colour image, but the day was colourless as it was overcast and there was lots of snow on the ground.
    Together we stand
  • This cluster of trees seemed to thrive on diversity. There are quite a few different types of tree in this image and they are all doing will, despite the freezing temperatures.
    Variety
  • These old silos represent a bygone era, an era of yesteryear when everything was different. These silos are very few and far between now on the Albertan prairies. They are difficult to maintain and not always safe and many have been replaced. This one however, stands proud and is perhaps one of the last sentinels of that time.
    Lone Sentinel, Drumheller
  • Apocalypsis
  • This land, just outside Drumheller, seemed like a forgotten land in some way. The roads were packed down with snow, the wind was bitingly cold and the shrubs in this area were few. This bush was clinging stubbornly to the Earth with strength and resilience in spite of the conditions.
    Resilience
  • The break in the clouds, gave a perfect opportunity to photograph the blue sky against a white land. This was a fleeting scene of the fence winding off...into the distance.
    Into the distance
  • Bank Building, Rowley
  • Old Prairie home
  • Rowley Store, Alberta
  • The old grain silos have become difficult to maintain on the Alberta prairies and many have been replaced with the new metal silos. Their shapes and colours are iconic in their own way, but they still don't have the mystique and perhaps the presence of the original silos.
    A new dawn
  • In the middle of a field, in the Yukon was this little lonesome outhouse. Not sure if it was in use anymore and never tried to find out, but it made for a great image!
    Whiteout Outhouse, Yukon
  • Spectacular frost on winter twigs in the Yukon
    Whitehorse DL2_7819.jpg
  • Cold breath of air, Yukon
  • Softly whispering snow, Yukon
  • Alert Bay Cannery long exposure
  • This scene struck me as an analogy for the hope and strength of the beacon that is standing strong in the might flowing river. It was a perfect scene, fast flowing water, magnificent light and body clouds, after a fresh dusting of snow....perfect!
    Beacon of Hope
  • Waterton Mountain Range
  • View from the top over Waterton Lakes
  • Last light at Lighthouse Park
  • The Calmness - Standing on the rocky shore as the sun was setting was a very surreal and calming experience. This image exemplifies that serene time and has a calming effect to gaze upon and make you contemplate time and reality.

  • The forests in British Columbia are vast structures spanning for hundreds of kilometres. As you enter one of these sanctuaries, it feels cooler, calmer and quieter. As you stay longer, this imbues your soul.
    Deep Cove forest
  • The green and chartreuse of the forest canopy is emphasized in this image as the sunlight was trying to break through, the glow was almost tangible!
    Green Canopy
  • As the cool breeze ran across the water, the last light gave colour to the sky and then slowly darkened to reveal...the moon rising.
